Cheddar is situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills and on the edge of the Somerset Levels.

The gorge offers great fun for the whole family with attractions such as Gough’s Cave, Cox’s Cave, Jacob’s Ladder, the cliff-top walk, Cheddar Man and the Cannibals exhibition, and the open-top bus ride through the gorge itself. For refreshments there is a wide range of traditional tea rooms, pubs and restaurants along the lower gorge.

There is also plenty of shopping to be done, with local shops filled with famous Cheddar Cheese and local ciders. Both the village and gorge provide shopping and leisure opportunities for all ages.

Cheddar is also an ideal base for touring the West Country and situated just 20 minutes from the M5 is an ideal stopover on the way to the far South West.
